Should Franchise Ads Use Meta Instant Forms or a Landing Page?
Instant forms win on volume and cost per lead; landing pages win on lead readiness. Most franchisors should run both and judge them on cost per qualified candidate.
What is the real difference between an instant form and a landing page?
The difference is how much the candidate learns before they hand over their phone number. An instant form opens inside Facebook or Instagram, pre-fills contact details and takes seconds. A landing page sends the person to your site, where they can read about the opportunity, the investment and the support before filling out a form.
| Factor | Meta instant form | Landing page |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per lead | Lower | Higher |
| Lead volume | Higher | Lower |
| Candidate awareness | Often low; may not remember your brand | Higher; has seen your pitch |
| Qualifying questions | Custom questions and conditional logic available | Unlimited, plus content that self-screens |
| Tracking | Native to Meta; CRM connection needed for outcomes | Pixel plus Conversions API needed |
| Retargeting value | Limited site data | Builds site visitor audiences for Meta and Google |
| Speed-to-call need | Very high | High |
In our experience the instant form wins on cost per lead almost every time. Whether it wins on cost per sale depends on your follow-up.
When should a franchisor use Meta instant forms?
Use instant forms when you need volume and your sales team calls fast. They suit brands with a lower investment, a broad buyer profile, or a development team with spare capacity.
Meta offers three form types. "More volume" is the default and is designed to generate a larger number of leads. "Higher intent" adds a review screen and inline text telling people your business may follow up, which Meta says helps screen out people who are only marginally interested. "Rich creative" lets you add images and more text. For franchise development I almost always start with Higher intent. Note that Meta says Higher intent forms deliver only to Facebook and Instagram feeds on mobile, not desktop.
Ask at least three qualifying questions: liquid capital available, timeline to open, and preferred market. Meta supports conditional logic and conditional answers, so you can route someone who selects "less than $50,000" differently from someone who selects "$150,000 or more."
When is a landing page the better choice?
A landing page is the better choice when your investment is high, your buyer profile is narrow, or your sales team is drowning in unqualified calls. Every paragraph a candidate reads before submitting is qualification you do not have to do on the phone.
A franchise landing page should state the total investment range and liquidity requirement, show what an owner does day to day, include owner stories, and ask the same qualifying questions as your form. It also feeds your retargeting and helps your Google campaigns, because site visitors become audiences. Our page on what a franchise opportunity website should include covers the content.
The cost is volume. Expect fewer submissions and a higher cost per lead. That is fine if cost per discovery day goes down.
How should you test instant forms against a landing page?
Test them in parallel, with the same audience and creative, and measure deep in the funnel. A test judged on cost per lead will always pick the instant form.
- Run two ad sets or campaigns with matching audiences, budgets and ads; change only the conversion location.
- Tag each lead's source in your CRM so the sales team cannot mix them up.
- Track contact rate, qualified rate, discovery day bookings and signings for each.
- Run long enough to get at least a few dozen qualified conversations per side before calling it.
- Compare cost per qualified candidate, then cost per sale once deals close.

Does Meta's optimization change the answer?
It narrows the gap. Meta's qualified leads performance goal works with both instant forms and website forms, and it shows ads to people more likely to convert after submitting. Meta's help center says that beginning April 2026, that goal is no longer available for new campaigns without a Conversions API integration.
So the bigger decision is not form versus page. It is whether you send CRM outcomes back to Meta at all. An instant form with qualified-lead optimization fed by your CRM will often beat an unoptimized landing page. Instant form leads also flow out through native CRM connections such as Salesforce, so there is no reason to download spreadsheets by hand.
What does Lead PPC usually recommend?
For most franchisors we launch a Higher intent instant form with three to five qualifying questions alongside a dedicated landing page, then shift budget toward whichever produces cheaper qualified candidates after a full test. Our all-time average cost per franchise development lead is about $32 across channels; if either option is running well above $100 per lead, something is wrong with the targeting, the offer or the form.

Common questions
Why do instant form leads say they never filled out a form?
Because the form pre-fills their details and takes a few taps, some people submit without much thought. A Higher intent form, investment language in the ad and a call within minutes all reduce this.
Can instant forms be submitted on desktop or mobile browsers?
Meta says instant form submission on iOS and Android works in the mobile Facebook app, not in mobile browsers such as Safari or Chrome. Higher intent forms also run only in mobile feeds.
Should the landing page live on our main franchise website?
It can, but a focused page without your full navigation usually converts better. Keep it consistent with your franchise development site so candidates who look around find the same story.
