Top 12 Franchise Advertising Experts

Top 12 Franchise Advertising Experts

Top 12 Franchise Advertising Experts:

  1. DrummLaw – These guys have a lot of expert information in regard to franchising, even down to a state by state level.  Some states require you to pre-file for advertising (such as California, Maryland, and other non-registration states).  And they have a lot of tips and tricks as it relates to FDDs, trademarks, and other issues that franchisors run into.
  2. Franchise Specialists – Franchise Specialist has a great article specifically on understanding franchise advertising fees.  These fees can range from 1-4%, and it’s crucial to understand how those funds will and should be used.  It’s especially important that franchisors try not to use all of the advertising funds for national campaigns and allow for a certain percentage of the ad spend to go directly back to the local marketing efforts for each specific location.
  3. IFA – As an overall thought leader in the space, IFA has some great articles on making sure that you’re not advertising an “offer” to states that you don’t actually have your FDDs filed in.  This is really important to keep in mind because especially with Google and Facebook / Instagram it’s very easy to start advertising in any state, but there may be some legal implications if you jump the gun in areas that you shouldn’t  yet.
  4. Franchises America – I love how Franchises America does these super long lists that identify each genre of franchise, such as education, restaurant, home services, etc.  This is no different when it comes to advertising franchises.  They have a list of 92 of the best Marketing & Advertising Franchises.
  5. Franchise Direct – Franchise Direct and Franchise Gator are probably the two most popular franchise portals.  Franchise Direct specifically has a great list of Marketing & Advertising Franchises, so if you’re a prospective franchisee who is looking to dive into the marketing arena, they have some great resources there to look at.
  6. Pickcel – Maintaining brand consistency is something that a lot of franchisors, especially ones with <100 locations really struggle with.  Also, Google My Business is often times way under-utilized for local franchise advertising.  Pickcel has lots of great tips that act almost like a checklist of things to make sure that you are doing with your brand and advertising.
  7. TeamSnap – One of the things that we don’t see enough in the franchising space is crowd sourcing and really creating a ground swell of raving fans.  I think that TeamSnap does a great job of turning customers and families into hard core fans.  If you’re a franchisors and you need more ideas around how to turn customers into free marketing, this would be one to check out.
  8. Franchising.com – This one is similar to some of the information found on Franchise Direct, but it’s worth including here because if you are seeking to become a franchisee of an existing advertising franchise, you definitely want to take the time to do your due diligence prior to signing your franchise agreement.  Also, I think that Franchising.com has some of the best overall content in regard to franchising.
  9. Sociallybuzz – National and Local advertising campaigns are no brainers when it comes to franchise advertising, but oftentimes Regional or Cooperative ad campaigns are forgotten about.  Sociallybuzz has some great tips on all 3 types of franchise advertising programs.
  10. Sprout Social – Sprout Social has this “Franchise Marketing Guide” that is kind of nice because you don’t have to actually download anything.  What I like about it is that it talks a lot about the roles of a franchisor versus a franchisee when it comes to marketing.  For instance, one of the common issues franchisors run into is trying to decide whether they should have separate social media accounts for each location or try to handle things from a single larger Facebook / Instagram page.  They also relate a lot of their messaging to address greater advertising trends, which you don’t see much.
  11. MSA Worldwide – Grand Openings for new stores are one of the most important advertising events that need to be well prepared for.  MSA offers some great ideas around this and much more.
  12. My Emma – Some of their information is a bit generic, but I do like how they talk about customer loyalty programs.  Whether you’re using email marketing, social media, or push notifications from your app, customer loyalty is key to drive recurring business so that you’re not just getting 1 visit per year per customer.

Understanding the Different Types of Franchise Advertising

When it comes to franchise advertising, there are several different approaches to consider. From traditional print and television ads to digital marketing methods like search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach that will effectively promote a franchise business. The most successful franchises take advantage of multiple types of advertisements in order to reach their target markets. Some of the more popular strategies include:

  • Print – Newspapers, magazines, billboards, etc.
  • Television – Commercials airing on broadcast, cable or satellite TV networks
  • Radio – Spots broadcast over AM/FM radio stations or satellite radio networks
  • Digital – Ads appearing on websites, search engines, and social media networks
  • Out-of-Home (OOH)– Billboards, transit ads, and other public displays of advertising

Creating an Engaging Brand Image Through Visuals

No matter what type of advertising you’re using to promote your franchise business, visuals are essential. Eye-catching images can help capture the attention of potential customers and entice them to take action. Think about how you want your brand to be perceived by consumers and then use visual elements like logos, colors, fonts, photographs, videos and graphics to bring this message to life. Be sure that all visuals are used consistently across all platforms in order for the look and feel of your brand to remain consistent.

Identifying Your Target Audience

Before you begin creating ads for your franchise, it’s essential to identify who your target audience is. This will help you create more effective advertisements that are tailored towards the people most likely to be interested in what you have to offer. You can use demographic information such as age, gender, location and income level or psychographic data like lifestyle preferences or buying habits to gain a better understanding of the type of people you’re trying to reach.

Allocating a Budget for Your Franchise Advertising Campaign

Next step when it comes to franchise advertising is allocating a budget for your campaigns. Determine how much money you’re willing to spend on advertising and decide which types of advertisements will be most effective in reaching your target markets. This will help you stay within your budget while still maximizing the results of your efforts.

Leveraging Digital Platforms to Reach New Customers

Digital platforms offer a great way for franchise businesses to reach potential customers all over the world. Social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and others are incredibly powerful tools that can be used to create engaging content and connect with new customers. Other digital strategies such as SEO and PPC can also substantially increase exposure for your franchise business by improving its visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs).

Measuring Effectiveness of Your Advertisements & Making Adjustments as Needed

Last, but certainly not least, it’s important to measure the performance of your franchise advertising campaigns in order to optimize them. This will allow you to see which types of ads are driving the most conversions and make adjustments as needed. You can use tools such as Google Analytics or Facebook Insights for this purpose. This will help ensure that you’re getting the most out of your advertisement budget and maximizing the results of your franchise marketing efforts.

By taking advantage of these 10 franchise advertising tips, you’ll be well on your way towards creating an effective strategy for promoting your business. Start by determining what type of advertisements would work best for your target market and then allocate a budget accordingly. Leverage digital platforms to reach new customers and measure the performance of your ads in order to make any necessary adjustments. With the right strategy, you’ll be able to build a successful franchise business that stands out from the competition.
